The machine mind NULL is marching on the city's reactors. Fifty districts stand between it and the Core Grid. Build the defence. Hold the road.
MISSIONS
VERSUS
CITY UPGRADES
Each of the fifty missions is worth up to three stars, by how much of the reactor is left at the end. Stars are spent here, and can be taken back and spent again at any time.
DATABASE
HOW TO PLAY
Machines walk the road from the violet arrows to the reactor. Each one that gets through damages it. If the reactor falls, the mission is lost.
Choose a tower at the bottom (or press 1 to 5), then click a free pad beside the road. You can also click the pad first.
Click a tower you own to upgrade it (U), sell it for 60% of what it cost (X), or tell it what to aim at: the machine furthest along, the strongest, or the fastest.
Press START WAVE (Space) when you are ready. After the first wave the next one starts by itself in 25 seconds; starting early pays a credit for each second skipped.
No single tower does everything. Railguns crack armour but cannot hit flying machines; Tesla clears crowds; drones ignore armour but are slow to change target; Cryo slows machines and makes them brittle.
The last wave brings a Siege Titan. Its slam switches off the towers inside the orange ring for a few seconds, so spread your defence out. It takes extra damage while it winds up.
Versus online: two to four commanders get the same stage and the same machines at the same moments, on a clock: a new wave every 30 seconds whether the last is cleared or not, each tougher than the one before, with no end. The reactor that holds longest wins. Only the machines every player has already met in their own missions come, and city upgrades do not count, so everyone starts level. A versus match cannot be paused or sped up.
Three free powers, no credits needed, beside the towers (or Q, W, E, then a click on the field): Blockers, two troopers with machine guns set down on the road, who hold up to three ground machines where they stand; a Sniper, set down on the road, with a very long reach and a slow, heavy shot at the strongest machine; and a Bomb, dropped on a small circle, a huge blow to everything in it. Blockers and Snipers serve one wave and then leave (set down between waves, they serve the next one), unless the machines crush them first: the ring round them shows how much is left, the Titan crushes them at once, and flying machines pass over. Blockers and Sniper are ready again 35 seconds after use, the Bomb after 2 minutes.
P or Esc pauses, G changes the game speed, right-click or Esc puts a tower back.
